Ben Horton serves as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the HSI Charlotte Area of responsibility (AOR).  A native of North Carolina, Mr. Horton, has over 20 years of federal law enforcement experience.  In August 2022, Mr. Horton was named Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) in the HSI Charlotte area of responsibility. The AOR has oversight of eight offices throughout North and South Carolina and over two hundred employees investigating crimes against the United States. As part of his portfolio, ASAC Horton serves as the lead senior manager, over several stand-alone investigative units, including the HSI led Carolina Financial Crimes Task Force unit, HSI Special Investigations Fraud unit, HSI Cyber Exploitation Investigations unit and oversight over several dual state HSI portfolio management responsibilities.  Before working in Charlotte, NC he served in supervisory special agent positions in San Francisco, CA and HSI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.  ASAC is an ACFE Certified Fraud Examiner.
