Deputy Special Agent in Charge,
US Homeland Security Investigations, HSI Charlotte
Kyle D. Burns currently serves as the Deputy Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Charlotte, NC and leads over 195 personnel across nine field offices, targeting transnational crimes, including financial crimes, narcotics and human trafficking.
Previously, DSAC Burns served as the HSI Senior Liaison Officer to U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany, where he provided direct support to HSI African Attaché offices and helped build African partner nations’ law enforcement capabilities. From 2012-2018, DSAC Burns held several key supervisory roles in Detroit and Reno, and served at HSI headquarters in Washington, D.C.
DSAC Burns started his carry in 1998 as a Horry County police officer prior to joining HSI in 2003. DSAC Burns holds a Master’s in Criminal Justice from Boston University and a certificate in Key Executive Leadership from American University.
