Jason Blazakis

Jason Blazakis is a professor at the Middlebury Institute, where he teaches and researches threat financing, sanctions, intelligence, designation policy, and violent extremism. He spent nearly 20 years in the U.S. government. For more than ten years he directed the State Department's Counterterrorism Finance and Designations Office. He also served in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and at U.S. Embassy Kabul. He is the author of The Mediterranean Connection, Lynne Rienner, 2024, and Terror Disrupted, Cambridge University Press, 2026. He advises governments, law enforcement, financial intelligence units, and the private sector worldwide on thorny national security problems. He has testified before the U.S. Congress and the UK Parliament.
