Joao has more than 15 years of experience in fraud prevention, anti-money laundering, and financial crime risk management within the banking and payments industry.

He has held leadership roles in traditional banks and fintech companies across Brazil, Germany, and Switzerland, with a strong focus on preventing and detecting money mule activity, fraudulent payment flows, account takeover, and scams involving financial systems.

Throughout his career, Joao has led transaction monitoring initiatives, enhanced detection models and customer risk controls, and supported investigations related to fraud and money laundering. He has worked closely with multidisciplinary teams, regulators, and law enforcement authorities, and brings strong expertise in card payments, SEPA and instant payments, operational risk reduction, and financial crime governance.
